Why should I shoot with BGB?

Experience. Period. We've been shooting boudoir and pinup since 2010 and have photographed well over 700 women as of 2016. Over the years, we have shot a variety body types, ages, races, shapes and sizes, brides, mom's, grandma's and all the in-between. We know what poses will work best for you. And not only are we known for our pose coaching, but you won't find any other photographer around here with our facial expression coaching techniques.

We are an all-female staff. We want you to be as comfortable as possible so we can create a photo collaboration that is your personal masterpiece. We want to be able to connect and create. There is no huge production with crew standing around like you may see on TV--Our sessions are very intimate and low-key, with the shoot being one-on-one, just you and the photographer.

How do I schedule a session?

To schedule a session, check out our upcoming available dates on our Book Now page or contact us to inquire about other dates. You will then be instructed to fill out the Pre-Shoot Questionnaire and secure your appointment with a retainer payment. We require a non-refundable minimum of 50% of your selected session up front to fully reserve your date. You will be prompted to pay via PayPal or you can request to mail us a check or money order. We book up months in advance certain times of the year, so it is important to secure your date.

After you reserve a date, you will be emailed our Pre-Shoot Consultation Guide to help you prepare and plan for your shoot.

Can you walk me through a typical shoot?

Pre-Shoot Chat: When you arrive for your photoshoot, we will chat a bit while reviewing the outfits you brought and talk about your thoughts for your shoot.

Makeup and Hairstyling: We will discuss what level of makeup you'd like for your shoot with the makeup artist and answer any questions and concerns. Hairstyling is complimentary, please take note that we are not a salon. We offer simple styling such as curling, straitening, teasing, waves (and retro pinup when requested beforehand). We recommend ethnic hairstyling or extensions be done prior to arriving to the shoot. If you have any questions about our hairstyling, please ask prior to your shoot date.

The Photoshoot: We will begin your first set. We'll have a quick posing and facial expression lesson, and we may even act out some of the poses for you. We'll do some test shots and show you the photos on the back of the camera as we go so you can see how you're doing. You'll be coached on what to do throughout the entire shoot.

Post-Shoot: We will discuss how the proofing gallery works and how to order products. You'll be able to flip through some real client albums and check out what items we offer.

But I'm NOT photogenic at all...

We hear this all the time and we love proving our clients wrong. You'll be surprised what a little professional makeup, professional equipment, good lighting and posing techniques will do. With all the right elements and our experienced coaching, you have no choice but to take beautiful photos.

You might be pretty nervous at first and feel awkward, but I promise you it gets easier as we go along. We’ll coach you through poses and the process. Don’t worry about any areas that you feel insecure about, we’ll discuss with you how we will disguise or minimize those areas when you arrive at your appointment. Feel free to have a friend come along (with a little bubbly if you want) to help you feel comfortable. No men or children please, this is a women's only experience.

Do you Photoshop out any blemishes and skin imperfections?

Yes--Each purchased photo is carefully enhanced and retouched when it goes through final post-production.

Examples of what can be Photoshopped: stretch marks, bruises, arm pit folds, love handles, small tattoos, scars, cellulite, acne, etc.

PLEASE do not get sunburned! Subtle tan lines are doable and can be blended, but please try to stay out of the sun in the weeks leading up to your shoot.

Can I get a spray tan?

This is tricky, there are some good spray tans and some very, very bad, heavy and orange spray tans. Truth is, natural skin photographs best. But we do understand that you may want to have a little color for your photos, so if you must, we recommend you scheduling your spray tan with our makeup artist in order to get the correct skin tone for the shoot.

What’s your policy on nudity?

Your session will be shot entirely at your comfort level. You can reveal nothing, a little or a lot. We will photograph nudity when requested. However, we do not shoot any porn-like or graphic images. Any photo involving nudity is posed, stylized and edited as a tasteful fine art portrait.

I don't want my photos displayed online...

We respect everyone’s privacy and understand that these are very personal images. We will not display your photos anywhere, online or printed, unless you agree to sign our model release. And if you do agree to sign the model release, we never display any nudity online, we do not tag you on Facebook and we keep your name anonymous.

What do I bring to wear?

Bring any style of lingerie or cute clothes you like. We have some accessories, heels and jewelry but it is always good to bring your own wardrobe so we know everything fits properly. We don’t care if you bring a suitcase full of clothes! We can help you pick out the hottest outfits. And keep in mind, you don't necessarily have to show a lot of skin to have sexy boudoir photos...

Full-Figured Ladies: Some of our full-figured clients have asked us how they can hide or down-play their tummy areas, so we always suggest playing up other areas (boobies! push-up bra ladies!) while wearing lingerie dresses to down-play the tummy area. We suggest trying some black lace babydoll dresses!-- super sexy! Corsets are also a hot choice!

How long will the session take?

Depending on the session experience you choose, and including your hair and makeup, the whole session will take about 3-4 hours. Why so long? It takes time for hair and makeup, changing outfits in between changing sets, plus the lighting setup and rearranging. It may also take you a little while to relax. Most clients aren't used to lounging around in front of a camera wearing skimpy clothing, so your first few shots may look a bit stiff and "deer in headlights," as we call it.

We'll help you with this and you'll get more comfortable.

What is the product turn-around time?

Typically, your proofing gallery will be ready for you to view within the week of your shoot. After you select your images and order your products, everything goes into post-production. This typically takes a few days to complete and then you will view a proof. Once you approve the proof for printing, the turnaround time can take anywhere from a few days to up to a few weeks depending on the items. If you are trying to get something back by a certain date, please let us know so we can schedule you with plenty of time.

If you want the opportunity to be able to order any item with enough turnaround time, a good rule of thumb is to do your shoot no less than a month prior to your deadline.
